Shen me? aka...shemah (that's how i say it! it means what????):)

Hello all...ni hao ma or how are you? Since we last chatted lots of really exciting stuff has happened! I am absolutely loving it here. Monday i taught my class the rousing games of go fish and speed with cards and they absolutely loved it! I think we live off of card games here...we get lots of questions from everyone around us as to why we are so happy...:) Tuesday was a really interesting day. We have "visitors" come and talk from history and Hitler came to visit and we discussed the Holocaust and all that stuff. That blew my kids' minds. It brought out a lot of good questions for discussion. Then that afternoon we played the all-american games of Kickball and Whiffleball... i laughed so hard at these 12-16 year old high school boys who played kickball...they totally whiffed the ball about 5 times and then tried to skip bases in their running...hilarious. I had to go over the fact that you must run over all 3 bases! Last night was really good...we talked about Thanksgiving and what it means to us and we read songs of praise and thanksgiving.:) We reenacted the first Thanksgiving and i was a turkey (aka a person with a balloon taped to her nose and balloons taped to a towel:). We played the neverending game of uno also which lasted about 45 minutes and had to be stopped b/c the kids had a curfew! Some other fun stuff that's happened is that some of the upper level kids are using this idea i had the other day which i think i might now be obsessed with. They hear the Switchfoot song, "Meant to Live" and they are working on comprehension of it and gaining a good understanding of what it means...so tight:) Sheegua means west melon or water melon because it comes from the west and hollyo we have it EVERY meal...you definitely need to come to china you watermelon obsessor:) My little friend mark who is about 13 or 14 told me yesterday he can speak the English, the Japanese, the African, the Europe, the dog, and the cat...so funny. Today our afternoon activity was Logan's favorite game, the Hot Seat...i can now say i have been grilled by over 85 chinese middle schoolers about my love life (or lack of:)...i don't think my team has laughed so hard yet as when we shared these stories today. and one of my 13 year old boys is obsessed with having a wife. amazing. Our evening activity tomorrow is Christmas and Easter is on next wednesday so we have some major good stuff coming up. We get to go to the Great Wall with our kids on Saturday!!!! They have a saying that you are not a real man until you have been to the Great Wall...welp, i think that's about all i got...love, boldness, openness, set apart, focus, health, fear, obedience. tight. thanks. you all are so awesome and it's so strange to think that about 11 days from now i'll be in dallas. it's go time. peace out and take care...i can't wait to hear more from you. later!

oh man, the Great Wall... I hope you're ready to become a real man. I'll warn you, it's no easy task. We really have our work cut out for us. If you need any help, I'm sure my dad is willing, he's good at being a real man. And by dad I for real mean Kyle Oliver.

i cut the bush that is in brian and canadian dave's (only not dave anymore since he moved out) front porch area because it grew out to the pool barred fence again....i tell you what, it was not nearly as fun as it is when you are here and we chop at it together :) i'm sure it will need some more trimming upon your return. (while in the theme of cutting things, i cut my hair today, it is much easier to cut long hair because you can see and reach the back!!)

so i think you should thank d.o. and jon for the fact that i post on here...their trips got me warmed up to the idea of posting and now here i am!!! love you!
