We are far too easily pleased...

Yep, that's just been my observation in life lately. We so easily content ourselves for the ok or more so the "easy" things in life. God has so much more in store for us but we're not willing to persevere through the Lord. We want the easy way out. Period. We will focus on our material items...I'll be totally honest, I don't think of myself as a material person but the fact is with Hurricane Rita, I started thinking as to what would be the "important" things i would need to take with me if it actually came to College Station. You know what some of my short term thoughts were? Well the two I found most humorous were my clothes and makeup because they amount to a lot of money...I thought it even funnier b/c i don't wear half of my clothes very often and i wear makeup maybe 5-10 times a year. There were others but i found those two to be the funniest. But the fact is, the things that really matter in life cannot be taken away from us as we are stripped of our material possessions. If we focus solely on Christ nothing of real importance can EVER be taken away from us. We are far too easily pleased with what this world has to offer...so I bring some pretty awesome verses I've learned a whole lot through the last few months: "Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever."
1 Jn. 2:15-17- When we surrender our lives to Christ from the beginning, we are responding to a call from Christ, a call to be DIFFERENT. Not a call to act a little different on certain occasions of our choosing or to not say a few words or to not watch a certain tv show or song, but a call to LIVE LIFE TO THE FULL. And that full is in Christ. And don't get me wrong, I mess up a zillion times a day, this is NOT something that could ever be pulled off without Christ because it is by Him, for Him, and through Him that any of this is possible. And when you fall, and you will, He'll be right there to keep on encouraging you and building you into the person in Christ you were made to be. Brokenness to our prideful hearts is a blessing, strange but it truly is. Way serious post today, I enjoyed it. I will now step down from my soapbox (only in writing:)...
